For years, while writing American Goddess, I collected fragments: photographs, postcards, magazine clippings, letters, studio records, books, and objects that seemed to carry traces of another life. Some led directly to scenes in the novel. Others opened doors into forgotten histories.
The Archive is a place to share those discoveries—a cabinet of curiosities from the world behind American Goddess and the women whose stories history nearly left behind.
